Flight watch: monitoring a flight after departure

Flight watch is the continuing review of information relevant to a flight. The responsibilities and communication arrangements depend on the operator and the applicable operational control model.

A changing forecast, airspace restriction, technical report or airport service may affect the original plan. Check the source, issue time and relevance, then identify what has changed and who should be informed.

If the situation requires a new option, compare the available evidence, consider dependencies and record the next review. The flight crew and authorised operational personnel retain their respective responsibilities under approved procedures.

Practise with a simulated mission: make a plan, receive a weather change, explain the uncertainty and prepare an update for the people involved.
