A practical guide to OCC shift handovers
How to pass unresolved flight, aircraft, crew and station issues to the next operations shift.
By Danyal Saleem

A useful handover tells the incoming team what has changed, what matters next and who owns each unresolved action. It is a conversation as well as a written record.
Start with a current network picture: disrupted flights, aircraft availability, weather, airport restrictions and important deadlines. Identify the source and time of each critical update.
For every open item, describe the decision already made, the next action, its owner and the review time. Explicitly flag unconfirmed assumptions and dependencies between desks.
Practise by writing a handover after a synthetic disruption and asking another learner to identify what they would need before taking over.
